Last night the Villa Marina played host to the 2018 Isle of Man Sports Awards. A fantastic event that celebrates the outstanding sporting achievements of all sportsmen and women from our wonderful Island thoughout 2018. It was amazing to spend the night with so many talented athletes from the island.
Last month I was nominated for the Isle of Man Sports Ambassador of the Year award. It was a tough category with professional athletes and multiple olympians.
I am honoured and privileged to announce that at last nights awards ceremony I was awarded ‘2018 Isle of Man Sports Ambassador of the Year’. To win this award means the world to me. Furthermore, to not only accept it on behalf of myself but to do what I do for all those on the Isle of Man as well as around the world affected by diabetes gives me great pride. To be recognised in this way, in a manner beyond my on bike performance is humbling for me.
A huge thank you must go to Isle of Man Sport, Team Novo Nordisk as well as all of my friends and family.
I’m looking forward to continuing to use cycling as a platform to inspire those affected by diabetes and to represent our Island at the highest level throughout 2019.
